Nice little event here in town again. The PG events certainly seem to be drawing more teams than USSSA locally.

Rawlings Tigers 8u Orange vs. Lv Madmen Baseball
Dirtbags 9u White vs. LVBA Lightning
Lv Madmen Baseball vs. Dirtbags 9u White
Rawlings Tigers are the only 8U team in action. With only 8 total teams in 9AA and 9 open, it might have been nice to combine the two divisions. Don't know much about the Dirtbags team, but I would imagine LVBA and/or Madmen should be in the championship.

Vegas Raptors vs. Rawlings Tigers 9U Romano
Southern Nevada Baseball vs. Vegas Valley Wolfpack
Raptors and SN appear to be on track to meet up in the championship, but this will be a good test for Tigers and Wolfpack. Raptors and SN need to make sure to avoid the potential trap games against Tigers and Wolfpack.

Gamers are sitting out, but the rest of the big 3 are taking a shot at 11U open. Strong and Forge are the highest ranked teams playing 10U this weekend. This weekend should give the rest of the local teams a chance to win a ship with the top 5 all either sitting out or playing up. First appearance for the Outlaws and second for CBA, so should be a good chance to get a gauge on those teams.

A couple of 10U teams and a few out of state teams in the division. BLE is stepping up again to 11U, hopefully they can have some success to build off. Almost all of the top teams are in a pretty legit 11U open division, so with all of the big dogs out, it might be a good opportunity for these teams to gain some confidence.

With every top local team in action, this is shaping up to be a great test and chance for the top local teams to have some meaningful matchups. The only downside I see is having gold, silver, and bronze brackets. There will be some excellent teams in the silver division. The Lions had LVBA on the ropes last game, so they could pull an upset, knocking LVBA out of the gold bracket and squeak into the gold bracket. With LVR, Houston, and Victory all playing each other, at least two of those teams will not make gold, and I think you can definitely make the argument those 3 teams are in the top 5 talent wise this weekend. If they all go 1-1, there's a chance none of those three make it to the gold bracket. The 2 10U teams caught a bit of a break, playing an unknown California team and each other, creating a real good chance one of the 10U teams make the gold bracket. With the other 5, MVP had Xpress on the ropes, so they could pull an upset and knock Xpress out. The Club shouldn't be too tough, so GBG has a great path to Gold unless the Bruins can find a way to neutralize GBG.
So we could wind up with a gold bracket of LVBA, LVR, LVR/SN 10U, Xpress, and GBG Red. We could also see a gold bracket of Lions, MVP, LVR/SN 10U, GBG Red, and one of the out of state teams. I definitely would have preferred 2 7-team brackets instead of 3 brackets, as there is no doubt the top 2 seeds in the silver bracket this weekend could have made a run at the gold championship. With a lot of parity between all of these teams, it is really difficult to predict who will make it. If I had to put my money on one team to make the gold bracket, I'd probably go with GBG Red and either LVR or SN 10U. Everything else is a complete guess. While often a team can skate through pool play, we might see some solid pitchers throwing Saturday instead of Sunday.

Vegas Strong Baseball 12u vs. Sin City Thunder 12u Nepa
Another appearance by the Misfits, who pop up on occasion. Depending on who they bring in, it's hard to gauge how strong they will be. They have a big roster, but many of those players are on other teams as well, so who knows how good they will be. Again, with the top teams in the open division, this is a good chance for all of these teams to make a championship.

LVBA Lightning vs. Lvr
Southern Nevada vs. Golddiggers Baseball Club
Lvr vs. GBG Vegas Red
Golddiggers Baseball Club vs. LVBA Lightning
GBG Vegas Red vs. Panthers
The schedule makers did not do the top 3 teams any favors, as LVR drew both the #2 and #3 teams in GBG and LVBA, while GBG are matched up with LVR yet again. Good to see Golden Spikes Pirates back in action. Also good to see GBG black and Panthers stepping up in competition as well. I imagine LVR should be able to win this, but have to avoid letting up against their tough pool play draw.
Overall, should be a really good test for the local teams as almost all of the top teams in town are battling this weekend. With the tournament season winding down locally, this event might be the last one to draw all of the big guns.
